Let's kick things off with a little bagel adventure! I stumbled upon a mouthwatering bagel recipe on TikTok, and ever since, I've been itching to dive into the world of homemade bagels. Now, I'm excited to take you along on this delicious journey, that I am sure you will enjoy.


While picking up a bagel from a bakery or a café is convenient, there's something truly special about crafting your own homemade bagels. In this blog, I'll guide you through the simple steps of crafting homemade bagels, starting with the satisfying dough-making process.


The Bagel-Making:


Creating homemade bagels is a rewarding process that begins with crafting the dough. You have endless flavor and topping possibilities, from sweet cinnamon and raisins to savory garlic, onion, or herb-infused varieties. Toppings like cream cheese, avocado, or a fried egg add the finishing touch before baking. The result is an irresistible aroma and golden-brown crust, promising a flavorful, aromatic treat.

Enjoy this easy recipe that I tried and its fantastic and super easy!


Ingredients:


  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

  • 1 cup warm water


Instructions:


1. Activate the Yeast:


  • In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar.

  • Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

  • Sprinkle the yeast over the warm water mixture.

  • Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. This indicates that the yeast is active, which is essential for it to leaven or raise.


2. Mix the Dough:


  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.

  • Pour the activated yeast mixture into the flour mixture.

  • Stir until a dough forms.


3. Knead the Dough:

  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.

  • Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. You may need to add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky.


4. Shape the Bagels:


  • Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.

  • Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it slightly.

  • Use your finger to poke a hole through the center of each flattened dough ball to create the bagel shape.


5. Rise:


  • Place the shaped bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Cover them with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for about 20-30 minutes. They should puff up slightly.


6. Preheat Oven:


  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).


7. Bake:


  • Bake the bagels in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown.


8. Cool: -


  • Allow the bagels to cool on a wire rack before serving.
